The Challenge

Stepping into Essence of India is to be enveloped by the vibrancy of a culture where food, craft, and atmosphere are inseparable. We were asked to create an interior that could stand alongside the restaurant’s exquisite cuisine and transport guests into the richness of India’s culinary soul.

Our design draws on the deep, luxurious hues of spices; saffron, cayenne, paprika; layered with wallpapers reminiscent of Indian tapestries and softened by warm, ambient light. Ornate beading, woven panels, and brass accents weave a tactile richness into the dining rooms, while ochre upholstery and travertine tables anchor the guest’s sensory experience.

The Results

Beyond the main hall, we introduced intimacy through sheer draped partitions and perforated pendant lights that scatter intricate patterns of shadow and glow. These delicate gestures echo the artistry of Indian textiles and architecture, transforming the dining ritual into a moment of theatre and serenity.

We embraced sustainability by repurposing existing furniture and chandeliers, sourcing locally, and collaborating with artisans to breathe new life into the space. Essence of India is our homage to cultural authenticity, sustainability, and design intelligence; an immersive journey where every detail resonates with flavour, memory, and story.
